THE TEAMADRI - Machinist
Adri is one of the tiniest sewers I've ever come across and reminds me of one of those elves that comes into the workroom at night to sew while everyone else is asleep. His specialty is stretch wear. He's very quietly spoken and loves learning new things.
ATON – The dye guy
Aton is the 2IC of the dye factory. Very efficient and has shown an interest in the new system we developed for our own colour library as they didn’t have one to work from. Aton is helpful in explaining every stage that our linens go through in the dye process. He’s always a pleasure to work with.
KADEK – Machinist
Kadek works speedily with her chatter keeping up with her fast moving fingers. She reminds me of a little laughing jolly Budda. Always happy and always busy as a bee. She keeps the group in high spirits with her infectious giggles and wonderful stories
KOMANG - Quality Controller and Hand Sewer
Komang is kept busy checking all garment inside and out. Trimming any threads and fast returning any garments that require machinists’ attention to maintain the high quality. Ironing and hand sewing are also part of her work. She works quietly and is very shy, but a calming force in the often hectic workrooms. Nothing seems to phase her.
KOMANG – Machinist
One of the mothers who often has her two young girls coming into the factory to collect her for lunch or at the end of a day. She works quietly and is keen to learn new techniques to help improve her skills. Komang is always happy and laughs alot.
LILLY – Line Person and Machinist
In addition to sewing, Lilly is the ‘line person’ who moves between the staff at their work stations monitoring quality and the progress of work. She’s also the sample garment maker who does the first prototype of each design to see that all is good to go and no changes required. Like most others, Lilly is quiet with superb sewing skills.
MARDI – Technician and Machinist
Mardi is our best sewer and machine technician. A quiet gentle person who just goes about his work with guaranteed standards and care. Incredibly skilled and very proud of his work. His fingers move with a combined grace and efficiency at his machines.
SURYA - Lay person, Cutter and Prepping and Technician…and Driver
Along with his wife Tia, Surya is in charge of laying out of the linen fabric off the rolls, placing pattern pieces onto the stacks of linen (this is called a marker) and then cutting through all the layers. Following this you’ll find him working on maintaining all machinery or making new work benches. Surya is always the first to zoom off on his motorbike if we need something picked up in a hurry. His English is much better than my Bahasa language skills!
TIA – Lay person, Cutter and Prepping
Tia is new to the team and is wonderful. She practises her English on me and is trying very patiently to teach me Bahasa language. She, along with her husband Surya, are in charge of laying out of the linen fabric off the rolls, placing pattern pieces onto the stacks of linen (this is called a marker) and then cutting through all the layers. Following this you’ll find her prepping garments pieces with things such as fusing being ironed onto collar pieces and cuffs before they’re given to machinists. She’s incredibly reliable and a real asset.
YENI - Hand Sewer
Yeni is kept busy sewing buttons and any other detailed hand work. Other times, you’ll see her steam pressing garments as they come completed from the QC area. These are often then folded and packed ready for shipping. Her hobby is embroidery which you’ll find her doing at every opportunity such as in a break time or at the end of a work day.
